COVID-19 PROTOCOLS AND CHANGES

  • Practice Patience. We are excited to be back to work! Please be patient with us as we adjust to the new changes and remember that many hands-on service providers hold a lot of anxiety around working in the time of COVID-19. We have temporarily adjusted our salon hours to manage working with a limited staff as some members are not returning to work during Phase 1 of Multnomah County.

  • Health Screenings. Our online health questionnaire/consent form must be filled out within 24 hours of your appointment and may be asked again upon arrival at the salon. These are required by the state for all personal service providers; all information will be kept private unless it is requested by a contact tracer for a current COVID-19 investigation.

  • Wait Outside. Wash your hands. Say Goodbye. We respectfully ask that you arrive at your appointment time and wait outside until we come to greet you. You’ll be directed to the restrooms to wash your hands and/or offered hand sanitizer before your appointment can begin. We’d love to have you stay all day and drink wine with us but we must ask that you exit the salon immediately following your appointment check-out. Due to state guidelines, our lobby will not be available for use, we will not be serving beverages, and we have a strict room capacity to adhere to.

  • Temperatures will be taken. Anyone with a temperature of 100.3 or higher and/or has answered yes to questions 1-5 on the required questionnaire/consent form, will not be serviced and will be rescheduled for for 72 hours to 14 days out (depending on circumstance).

  • Masks are REQUIRED. No exceptions! We will not be providing services if you are not wearing a mask. If you arrive without a mask, we will give you a disposable mask to use and keep. If you refuse to wear a mask then you will be turned away.

  • Socially distancing. Per CDC & OHA regulations, we will have our stations staggered so each client/technician pair is 6 feet apart. Please be mindful of this rule when using other areas of our salon such as the reception area, the retail wall, and the restroom.

  • No cell phones allowed, Please do not use your cell phone during your appointment. Prior to your visit, please email your nail art inspiration photos to your nail artist at info@marjoriemaypdx.com. We also ask that all non-essential items such as bulky jackets, shopping bags, luggage, etc be left at home or in your car.

  • Come Alone. Only guests with appointments will be allowed in the salon. No partners, no children, no friends, and no pets. If someone is dropping you off please make arrangements for them to pick you up in a timely manner as the lobby seating will temporarily be closed. For group appointments, we will do our best to seat you near each other but keep in mind that each client-tech pair needs to be 6 feet from each other.

  • Hug Free Zone. We love you! We’ve missed you! But we won’t be hugging you, shaking hands, or playing footsie. As hands-on service providers, we will be limiting all unnecessary touching until it is safe to do so (then you get allll the hugs!).

  • PPE Fee. There will be a $5 PPE & Sanitation Fee during Phase 1 of Multnomah County’s reopening. This is because of the restricted availability & inflated prices of our regular sanitation products, the strict PPE that salons are now required to use, and the extension of service times needed in order for us to adhere to the new sanitation & health screening guidelines set in place by the CDC, OSHA, and OHA.

  • Appointment only. Current state rules prohibit taking walk-in appointments. Until further notice, all services will be appointment only.

  • Cancellation & No-Show Fees. During this time, cancellation fees will be waived if health is compromised or if COVID-19 exposure is in question. Please be considerate and truthful when calling to reschedule. If you or your household is feeling even the slightest bit sickly, let’s reschedule. We know it’s been a long time and we miss you but it's not worth getting sick or dead over a manicure or eyebrow wax. We ask that you do not purposely risk the health of our staff of other guests. No-Show appointments will now be charged 100% of service price due to the high demand & limited availability of appointment slots.

  • Dress Code Changes. You’ll find us wearing masks, gloves, face shields, and aprons. This is to protect you as much as it is to protect us. Rest assured that we are wearing huge smiles underneath our new uniform as we are super excited to be back to work!

  • New Prices. Expect to see prices increased across the self-care industry as a whole. Why is this? For Majorie May there are many factors involved which include significantly longer wait times for our supplies with an increase in shipping & product costs. Extra certifications for sanitation practices & continued education for our trades in order to keep you healthy, safe and able to enjoy new services. New guidelines for salons prevent us from working at full capacity, forcing us to take less clients per day, extend appointment times, and cut staff hours until social distancing restrictions are lifted. The beauty industry is known to lack accessibility to affordable healthcare and we’re now considered high-risk for being hands-on, face-to-face service providers during a global pandemic. Lastly, it's now more important than ever to attract the best talent to perform your long awaited services and to pay them a livable wage that is fair, honest, and legal (not all salons follow this rule).
